MOTIVATION

motivation1 MOTIVATIONLeaders are consistently exploring ways to motivate their teams as motivated employees not only enjoy their jobs they also generally:

  •       Are more productive, they produce more for a given level of resources than poorly-motivated employees;
  •       Produce better quality work with less wastage
  •       Have a greater sense of urgency (things happen quicker)
  •       Provide more employee feedback and suggestions made for improvements (motivated workers take more (“ownership” of their work)
  •       Work at 80-95% of their ability and not 10-30% as is the case with demotivated employees.

Identifying motivated employees is easy as they are:

  •       Persistence;
  •       Perseverant;
  •       Exude problem-solving attitudes;
  •       Are driven to achieve;
  •       Are driven to overcome barriers.

 You know your team is motivated when:

  • People and departments work well together
  • Good coordination and communication takes place between various work functions
  • People accept change, new ideas and directions
  • Good relationships between departments creates a productive work climate
  • Positive feedback
  • Newer team members are mentored by experienced team members
  • Small problems or misunderstandings are resolved amicably
  • Good production and service quality

So the big question is how do you create an atmosphere where team members can be motivated?
